Local Amenities

Blackburn and Burnley are both former mill towns, with a rich history of the textile industry dating back to the 13th Century. Both towns have busy shopping centres and markets. Blackburn's other attractions include the cathedral, museum and art gallery, and the Ice Arena, home of the Blackburn Hawks ice hockey team.

Lancashire also boasts fantastic countryside. The beautiful area of the Ribble Valley and the Trough of Bowland is only a short drive from the hospital and is well worth a visit. Slightly further afield is the Lake District, with its stunning scenery and many tourist attractions, is also easily accessible by car or public transport.
